STAFF from Golden Plains Shire are looking for public feedback on the municipality’s ten-year-long footpath strategy.

As part of the process, they are asking the community to complete a survey that could help with identifying the infrastructure is suitable and connects communities.

It’s hoped the strategy will help the Shire manage its current footpaths and create footpath networks in every town.

There will be three in-person community forums held in August to allow the community to have their say.

These will be held Friday 18 August from 10.30am at The Well in Smythesdale, Friday 18 August from 1.30pm in the Haddon Community Centre and Monday 21 August from 5pm at the Bannockburn Cultural Centre.

Mayor Cr Brett Cunningham is encouraging the community to share their opinion.

“The Strategy is expected to ensure Council can effectively prioritise future upgrades, new footpath construction, encourage physical activity, proactively plan ongoing maintenance and evaluate the utilisation of footpaths across Golden Plains Shire,” he said.

“Council welcomes residents’ input on the Footpath Strategy and look forward to receiving their feedback throughout the consultation period.”

The survey will be open until Monday 28 August at the Shire’s website or hard copies can be collected at municipal customer service hubs.
