Fire still a danger

May 1, 2019 BY

THE CFA has extended the fire danger period across the region until 1.00am on Monday, 13 May.

That means fire restrictions will continuedto be enforced across the City of Ballarat and Golden Plains Shire, as well as Hepburn and Moorabool shires.

Written permits to conduct burn offs will still need to be obtained and authorities have said they’ll keep continue their “zero tolerance policy” towards people responsible for illegal fires.

“Once we move out of the fire danger period in a few weeks’ time, residents that wish to conduct burn-offs on their private properties need to follow some basic rules,” said District 15 Operations Manager Brett Boatman.

“Register your burn-offs first and foremost, check weather conditions and monitor the wind, and follow local council laws and regulations.”
