Flag push praised
-LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Dear Editor,
I am writing to express my deep gratitude upon witnessing the proudly flying inclusive flag in Golden Plains Shire.
It is a small yet significant gesture that holds immense meaning for me and countless others who believe in fostering an inclusive and accepting community.
In a world where diversity is celebrated and unity is sought after, the flying of an inclusive flag sends a powerful message of acceptance, support, and solidarity to individuals from all walks of life.
It reassures us that Golden Plains Shire is committed to embracing diversity, promoting equality, and creating an environment where everyone can live, work, and thrive without fear of discrimination or exclusion.
I would also like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to Cr Owen Sharkey for his instrumental role in pushing this important issue forward.
His dedication and efforts in championing inclusivity have not gone unnoticed, and I am grateful for his commitment to making Golden Plains Shire a more welcoming place for everyone.
It is through the hard work and perseverance of individuals like Cr Sharkey that positive change becomes possible.
While the flying of an inclusive flag across all Victorian councils is indeed a remarkable step forward, we must not lose sight of the fact that there is still much work to be done in building an even more inclusive society.
However, the recognition of this important symbol is a meaningful acknowledgement of progress and a source of hope for a brighter and more inclusive future.
I firmly believe that when we embrace diversity and foster inclusivity, we create a community that is stronger, more vibrant, and enriched by the myriad of perspectives and experiences that each individual brings.
It is my sincere hope that the inclusive flag will continue to fly high in Golden Plains Shire, serving as a reminder of the values we hold dear and inspiring others to join in the journey towards a more inclusive society.
Once again, I express my heartfelt gratitude to Golden Plains Shire and Cr Owen Sharkey for their commitment to inclusivity.
This gesture means a great deal to me and countless others, and I am optimistic that it will inspire further positive change in our community.
Sincerely,
Sarah Smith
