SCHOOL holiday activies run by Golden Plains Shire officers have been announced for people aged twelve to twenty-five.

Scheduled from Monday 18 to Thursday 28 September, the program includes free sessions in and outside the Shire, covering topics like arts and crafts, to skating, and a trip to Melbourne.

Mayor Cr Brett Cunningham said the aim of the events is to provide a safe, social space with a range of activities for people with diverse interests and needs, and opportunities to learn something new.

“Council is pleased to be able to offer a range of school holiday activities that cater to young people’s different interests, and from skate workshops to gaming and cooking sessions, there’s so much for young people to enjoy,” he said.

“We encourage young people to check out council’s website to see what’s on offer, and take up the opportunity to have fun in a safe environment while strengthening social connections with their peers.”

At Bannockburn, the program includes drop-in cooking and acrylic art classes, gaming sessions, a skate workshop, and a movie afternoon screening Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.
A skate workshop at the Meredith Skate Park, and a roller-skating excursion to Rollerway Skate Centre in Geelong are also on the agenda, as is a Melbourne trip to the National Gallery of Victoria and Hosier Lane.
