FREE activities for families, carers and children will be on offer later this month in Golden Plains Shire.
The events will celebrate Children’s Week which runs from Monday 20 October until Friday 24 October.
The national week aims to recognise the talents, skills, achievements and rights of children.
Golden Plains Shire will be hosting two recycled art and craft sessions on Monday 20 October and Tuesday 21 October at Inverleigh Public Hall and Bannockburn Library respectively.
Each session will run from 10.30am until 11.30am and be facilitated by Firefly Wellbeing.
Participants will create a wind chime which sings for children’s rights.
The municipality’s children’s services team will be running activities at the Golden Plains Mobile Library.
These sessions will take place on Thursday 23 October from 9am until 10.30am in Meredith, 11.40am to 1pm at Rokewood and from 2.15pm to 3pm at Dereel.
On Friday 24 October the mobile library will visit Linton from 1.30pm to 2.45pm and Cape Clear from 3.15pm until 4pm.
Mayor Cr Owen Sharkey encouraged the community to take part in these free events.
“These fantastic Children’s Week activities are open to all children, families and carers in Golden Plains Shire, providing the opportunity to connect, share and engage in activities that support wellbeing and healthy development,” he said.
To register for the art workshops, visit the Golden Plains Shire website or by calling 5220 7230. Registration is not required for the mobile library activities.
