Fun, friends and activity at Central Wendouree Bowling Club
EVER tried lawn bowls? Central Wendouree Bowling Club is inviting any potential or returning players to join their community.
The club currently has over 120 members, welcoming all ages, experiences and abilities, with three greens, two grass and one synthetic.
President of the Bowls Committee, Laurie Wadeson picked up the sport in 1987. He said Central Wendouree is a friendly and active club that wants to promote itself, the sport, and plan for the future.
“We, as a bowls fraternity, are an ageing population. What we’re trying to encourage, is people getting out from behind their television sets to come out and be active,” Mr Wadeson said.
“We cater for anybody and everybody that wants to come along, get out and have fun, and enjoy a social game. It’s great to get out and meet people.
“I like to think we’ve got some of the best facilities in the association.”
For a beginner, the sport isn’t expensive at Central Wendouree.
“We offer free membership for the first year for someone who’s never bowled before. We can provide bowls, uniforms, anything… The only thing you need to provide is yourself.”
With five registered coaches, mens’ and ladies’ pennants, mixed social days, Friday night Happy Hour from 5pm, and more, Mr Wadeson said the club is vibrant.
“Come along, enjoy the sport, get out and get active.”
