DUST off your mullets and fire up the VT Commadore, a night of bogan bingo is coming to Lethbridge with the aim of raising money for the Junior Football Club.

The event is also an opportunity for the community to dress, come together, play bingo, and have a laugh.

“It’s been a long time since the footy club has been able to do something big and fun like that and it felt like a good way to give back to the adults who are involved in the club,” said Lethbridge JFNC committee member Jaclyn Smith.

“It’s a good way for new members and new people in town to meet the community.”

There will also be prizes for best dressed and best air guitar player as well as an auction of AFL memorabilia.

The money raised will go towards Rosella’s events after what has been a tough period for the club.

“This time of the year we are planning for the presentation day for the kids,” said Ms Smith.

“Last year we had three teams, and we were hoping to get four this year, but we only managed to get two so having less kids has hampered a lot of other fundraising like canteen sales.”

Ms Smith said it’s vital to keep the local junior footy club running as it provides a friendly environment for children to keep active and take part in the community.

“It means out kids can run around and be themselves and not be intimidated by a club such as in Geelong where there’s 1000 kids,” she said.

“With mental health the way it is now and nice to know they have that safe space in their back pocket.”

Bogan bingo will take place on Saturday 22 July at Lethbridge Recreation Reserve from 7pm. Drinks will be available at bar prices and the community is encouraged to bring their own nibbles.
