Future plans for building unknown
A COMMUNITY information session will be held at Smythesdale early next week to inform residents about upcoming plans for a building on Brooke Street.
The Shire acquired 66 Brooke Street, Smythesdale in 2022 and at this community gathering, Golden Plains Shire staff will share the findings of research which has been conducted in relation to the building.
“At the community information session, council officers will provide an overview of a number of reports that were commissioned to ascertain the structural and heritage value of the building,” said a Golden Plains Shire spokesperson.
Currently no future uses for the building have been identified, however, the findings of these reports and community consultation will help form plans.
“No potential uses have been investigated until the outcome of these reports were known and able to be communicated to the community,” said the spokesperson.
“Potential uses for the site will be the subject of further investigation with ongoing community consultation.
“The process moving forward will involve a number of stages of investigation and subsequent consultation and therefore there are no specific timeframes are available to determine what activity may be undertaken on site.”
The community session will be held from 6.30pm on Tuesday 30 April at 66 Brooke Street, Smythesdale.
