BANNOCKBURN’S industrial estate has a garden supply store once more.

The doors were opened on Golden Plains Sand and Soil over the weekend, and owner Scott Moreland said it’s “a massive relief” to launch the shop.

“It’s been an overwhelming day, and there’s definitely a need for this because Golden Plains is only getting bigger,” he said.

“We’ve got top soils, we’ve got sands, garden mix, mulch, toppings for pathways and river rocks.

“Everyone needs garden supplies. There’s new housing estates coming in who’ll need somewhere to get their gardening done, so it’s great we can keep this sort of thing local.”

A launch event is expected to take place next month alongside a rental hire expansion for equipment like excavators, rollers, and weedwhackers.

Mr Moreland is also director of Moreland and Sons contractors, which provides landscaping works and will also operate out of the newly-established store.

A self-proclaimed avid gardener, Mr Moreland said he jumped at the chance to open his own supply store following the closure of the previous supplier, Bannockburn Garden Supplies.

“I’ve been in construction for eight years and have done lots with landscapers. My taste isn’t everyone’s but I know what people need in their gardens,” he said.

“Something had to be opened. There was the existing garden supply here that shut down and the demand is definitely still here.

“I love my garden, from my white flowers to my magnolias. There was a need for this sort of thing and when the opportunity came up, I just took it.”
