BUSHFIRE scenario workshops are continuing throughout Golden Plains Shire.

A workshop was held last Sunday at Linton Community Hub and a further session will be held on Sunday 8 September at the Dereel Community Hall from 10am until 12pm.

The workshops are facilitated by Jamie Mackenzie from Red Flag Leadership in partnership with the Golden Plains Shire and Safer Together Victoria.

“I’d like to thank Jamie from Red Flag Leadership for returning to facilitate these workshops which will help keep our community safe,” said Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Brett Cunningham.

“These workshops are a fantastic opportunity for residents living in the northern parts of our Shire that may be more prone to bushfire event scenarios.”

Topics covered in the sessions include the realities faced in an emergency, how these challenges may be faced, and how to look after other residents and visitors.

Participants will also learn how to make decisions under stress and how to manage anxiety during a period of uncertainty.

“Participants will gain a realistic understanding of what may take place during an emergency event and work together to develop a community response,” said Cr Cunningham.

“This is essential in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all residents and visitors in these towns.”
