Golden Plains Shire closes some public spaces
GOLDEN Plains Shire has moved to shut down a range of public spaces and amenities in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
From today playgrounds, skateparks, BMX tracks and bike parks, tennis courts and camp groups, along with some other council run facilities, have been closed inline with similar moves by other municipalities across the state.
Non-enclosed public spaces with limited surfaces, like some recreation reserves and parks will remain open to allow for exercise.
A statement from council said, “Today and over the weekend, signs have been posted at 75 locations across the Shire informing residents and visitors of the closure.
“Locations of temporary closure in Golden Plains Shire includes all playgrounds, all skate parks, and all BMX and bike parks. At the request of Tennis Victoria, all public tennis courts have also been temporarily closed.
“Campgrounds have also been temporarily closed at the directive of the Victorian Government.”
All locations will be closed until further notice.
