APPLICATIONS for the second round of Golden Plains Shire’s Community Strengthening Grant program for 2023 are set to open next month and organisations are encouraged to apply.

Entries will be open from Friday 1 September until 2pm on Monday 2 October, and mayor Cr Brett Cunningham said the grant scheme is an ideal way to bolster community initiatives.

“Council recognises the critical role grants play in strengthening our community by supporting local groups to deliver worthwhile projects, programs and events and is committed to supporting the development of local communities by empowering residents and community groups,” he said.

Local groups will be able to apply for grants of up to $10,000 across the program’s four categories in health and active learning, creative arts, environment, and community safety.

Two online information sessions will be held before and during the program’s application opening period.

The first will be presented by JLT Risk Solutions, focusing on insurance, set to run on Monday 28 August from 11am to 12pm.

The second webinar, on cultural education for community projects, is set to run on Wednesday 13 September from 11.30am to 12.30pm, hosted by the Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation.

To register for the sessions, visit the municipality’s website.
