GOLDEN Plains Shire Council’s Community Strengthening Grants program has opened for applications.

The grants of up to $7000 are open to local community groups and organisations to complete projects, activities and programs within the municipality.

Funds are available in the three categories of healthy connected community, community inclusion, and environment and sustainability.

The program has been providing funding for more than 25 years.

“Council recognises the critical role grants play in strengthening our community by supporting local community groups and organisations to deliver worthwhile projects, programs and activities to the community,” mayor Cr Owen Sharkey said.

“I highly encourage eligible groups to contact council’s community grants team and take the opportunity to apply for this funding to support your community initiative.”

Grants will be awarded to groups with innovative ideas that promote inclusivity, social connection and improve the overall wellbeing of residents.

Groups are advised to discuss their application with the municipality’s community grants team by emailing [email protected] or by calling 5220 7111.

Groups must match the amount of funding sought with cash or in-kind contributions.

Applications close at 2pm on Monday 1 September. To apply, visit the Golden Plains Shire website.
