Pageant king bound for Ireland
A PRESTIGIOUS pageant crown has come home to the Shire for the next twelve months.
Earlier in the month, the Male World International Royalty Australia King 2022 title was awarded to Bannockburn’s Greg Savin, with his five-year-old son Logan placing second.
Mr Savin also won the formalwear section, Logan received the top photogenic model score across the whole pageant process, and the duo tied for first place in the community service award, alongside fellow competitor Miss Evie.
The pair have qualified to represent “team Australia” at an International pageant in Cork, Ireland, and as the National winner, Mr Savin has also been awarded a Disneyland Paris trip.
“When I was announced the winner, it was awesome. It’s a really good feeling to know that I’ve done a good job,” Mr Savin said.
“I’ve come a long way in a short period of time, having initially started to help Logan, but I’ve grown in confidence myself. I have to thank my wife for the awesome job she does on my clothes, and for helping me with my routines.
“It will be fantastic to compete against people from all around the world. The competitors from the UK and Ireland will be especially tough to beat, but it will be an awesome experience. “
The National pageant’s judging process included the assessment of volunteer work logbooks and a sit-down interview, alongside the scoring of on-stage modelling routine, grooming, and confidence.
“Fun fashion was the first routine, where I had my lion shirt and my cool shiny blue shoes, which were a standout. Everyone was commenting on them,” Mr Savin said.
“After that, we did the formal wear. Logan and I did that in a pair. I ran through my routine first, he went through his routine, and at the end, we walked together.”
The International pageant is set for the end of October and will include a new section the duo haven’t competed in before, national costume, where they will model their sartorial interpretation of Australia.
The Savins were the first father and son team to ever compete in the Australian competition, and will continue to support Geelong Food Relief Centre, Neighbourhood Watch Bannockburn, and Geelong Animal Welfare Society throughout the year.
