A LOT of what Girl Guides do is about making the community a better place to live, and that’s what one member has done by raising funds for Riding Develops Ability.

Emily Shearer-Cox, currently a year 7 student at Phoenix College, and a member of the 11th Ballarat Girl Guides raised $500 for RDA as part of tasks for her BP, or Baden-Powell, Award.

“I know about the great work all the volunteers there do because my older brother, Jacob, attends each week during school terms,” Emily said.

“It is amazing to see how much benefit he gets out of it.”

To raise the money Emily held a Tupperware fundraiser over two months, some people also made donations when they became aware of the cause.

In addition to the funds Emily was also donated a new helmet to RDA.

“Thanks to everyone for supporting me and RDA,” she said.
