HADDON Badminton Club will smash into their 2021 season with a registration night next month.

On Monday, 8 February from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, beginners, intermediate players or those with more advanced skills are invited to visit the Haddon Stadium to sign up for the club’s internal summer pennant.

Club lead Adam Liversage said the competition will run every Monday evening during the school term from 7pm.

He is aiming to attract at least 45 or 50 players onto the Stadium’s four brand-new courts each week.

“The season commences on the 15th of February. Our more experienced players are more than willing to assist new players that want to learn,” he said.

“We do grade players in teams depending on their experience, so all levels are even, and new players can play with more advanced players to learn the game.

“We had seven teams of six last season, or 42 players, plus fill-ins. We’re hoping for a few more this season.”

Mr Liversage has been smashing the shuttle at Haddon since he was 13 years old. In the 30 years since his love of the game has grown and he even met his wife on-court.

“At Haddon we have a community feel, there’s a great social aspect to the game, you meet new people, and it’s all about fitness and fun.

“We encourage family participation and encourage kids to have a go if they are old enough to confidently hit a shuttle,” he said.

“There are a lot of new families in the area and we welcome them to come on down.”
