PARTICIPANTS IN THE HARCOURTS FUTURE LEADERS PROGRAM CHAHLI CURWOOD-HYDE, LAUREN HODGSON AND MONIQUE PLOVER.

Real estate agency where over half the workforce are women is driving industry and community improvement

HISTORICALLY, real estate has often been perceived as a man’s world and it hasn’t been until the last decade or so that women have truly made their mark. This is certainly evident at Harcourts Ballarat where over 50 per cent of the team are women.

As one of the many real estate companies Ballarat has to offer, Harcourts is a leader when it comes to building a safe, supportive and opportunistic future for women not only within the company itself but within the community as a whole.

Each year the men and women of Harcourts Ballarat join their fellow offices from around Victoria and the nation in raising much needed funds by walking a mile in heels in support of White Ribbon Australia, an initiative working to end violence against women.

In addition, Christine Browning, one of Harcourts’ Sales Consultants held a fundraising night in November 2018 for White Ribbon Australia at the Ballarat Harness Racing Club, raising thousands of dollars for the cause.

Christine was recently recognised for her outstanding efforts by the Harcourts Foundation and received the Harcourts Foundation Inspiration Award, which is given to only the most philanthropic personnel within the organisation.

Harcourts Victoria also runs Future Leaders, a program which focuses on developing the leaders of tomorrow.

About 15 applicants are chosen from around Victoria each year and this time three women from Harcourts Ballarat have been selected to participate.

Lauren Hodgson, Monique Plover and Chahli Curwood-Hyde will now join a group of fellow applicants over the next year, networking with like-minded and successful individuals.

Currently, Harcourts Ballarat have 17 women of all ages working within their team. Kelsie Williams being their youngest employee at just 18 years old and Jan Millar winning the race in her 60s after many years in real estate.
