Harvest festival feeds those in need
BALLARAT Steiner School celebrated the coming of Autumn with a Harvest Festival.
Pupils from Grades 1 to 6 brought seasonal vegetables such as pumpkins, potatoes, corn, onions and carrots to the school to create a harvest display.
The students showcased their poetry, singing, acting and dancing talents performing in front of an audience of family and friends during the day.
In celebrating the season, the school reinforced the connection of humanity with the natural world around it.
Produce in the harvest display was donated by the school to the Ballarat Soup Bus.
Murray Hassell, a year six student at the school, also collected two boxes of nonperishable items from the school community to donate to the Soup Bus.
Run by the OnTrack Foundation, the Soup Bus provides an after-dark meal service to Ballarat’s homeless and less fortunate and the foundation provides educational scholarships to young people in the Ballarat area.
Donations for the Soup Bus are accepted each Saturday at 10.30am behind the Ballarat East Men’s Shed, located on the corner of Fussell and Eureka streets, Ballarat.
