RESIDENTS in Golden Plains Shire are invited to participate in an online survey about the future Food Organics Garden Organics (FOGO) service.

Participants can choose to enter the draw to win one of two Woolworths vouchers.

All local government areas are required to move to a standard four-bin system under Victorian State Government legislation.

Red bins are for general waste, yellow for mixed recycling, purple for glass and green for food and garden waste.

With the Regional Renewable Organics Network (RRON) facility expected to be operational by early 2027, the Shire council is actively working towards introducing a FOGO bin.

Golden Plains Shire mayor Cr Owen Sharkey said residents are invited to complete an online survey to help shape the delivery of the new service.

“Council has commenced planning for the introduction of a Food Organics and Garden Organics service, in line with Victorian Government legislation,” Cr Sharkey said.

“As part of this process, we are inviting community input through a short survey.

“This survey will provide valuable insights into how residents currently manage food and garden waste, what’s working well, the challenges people face, and how we can best communicate about the upcoming FOGO service.”

The online survey is available until 5pm, Wednesday 23 July, and can be completed at goldenplains.vic.gov.au.

Hard copies of the survey are available at council’s Customer Hubs at 2 Pope Street, Bannockburn and 19 Heales Street, Smythesdale.
