How will Brown Hill be?

February 20, 2019 BY

SUBMISSIONS are now open on the future of Brown Hill.

The City of Ballarat is working with residents further develop a draft document that will go into the Brown Hill Local Area Plan.

The City has put forward three different options on the future of the suburb which have also been developed following community feedback processes. The draft document looks at issues like future land use, development and other improvements in Brown Hill.

The three current options include no change to current development patterns and no rezoning, some rezoning to allow for higher density development and a “balanced approach.”

As a result of earlier consultation, several key community needs have been developed.

They include retaining the suburb’s rural atmosphere and bushland setting, highlighting and improving the natural assets for recreation and tourism with a focus on the environment, appropriate development, potential street scape changes, and more public open space.

You can take part in the process by visiting mysay.ballarat.vic.gov.au, by post to City of Ballarat Strategic Planning – Brown Hill Local Area Plan, PO Box 655 Ballarat, 3350 or in person at The Phoenix, 25 Armstrong Street South.

Submissions close 8 March.
