WHAT do you love about Teesdale’s Turtle Bend Reserve, or what would you like to see done with the space?

Officers at the Golden Plains Shire are set to develop a planning document for the park, and community members’ ideas and feedback are being sought to shape it for use in years to come.

Shire mayor Cr Brett Cunningham said the aim is to maintain the space as a hot spot for family fun.

“Teesdale Turtle Bend is a popular recreation and events precinct that is a valuable social meeting space for the Teesdale community and attracts visitors from across Victoria,” he said.

“Community events that currently call Turtle Bend home include the Teesdale Twilight Market and Carols, Live@Turtle Bend Music Festival, and the Teesdale Community Harvest Markets.

“We are keen to hear your ideas and gain an understanding of what works, doesn’t work and if the area can be improved.

“Council aims to ensure the space continues to foster community building and social connection through promotion of recreation and social activities into the future.”

As it is now, visitors to Turtle Bend Reserve make use of an open grassy area, a barbecue, shelter and seats, a stage under Teesdale’s iconic turtle rotunda, two playgrounds, and accessible and changing toilets.

There is also an active youth space with skating, BMXing, netball, and basketball facilities.

The Teesdale Turtle Bend Recreation Reserve and events space feedback period will run until Monday 19 February, and community members can head to the municipal website to fill out a survey or make a submission.

The area’s concept designs are expected to be seen by councillors for their consideration in the middle of this year.
