AN information session focusing on ecological survey work being conducted for the proposed Tall Tree Wind Farm near Lethbridge is scheduled for Wednesday 4 February .

The Tall Tree Wind Farm is a proposed Acciona Energia renewable energy project, currently planned to be established west of Lethbridge in the Golden Plains Shire.

The project design includes up to 53 wind turbine generators and associated infrastructure, with a maximum installed capacity of about 330 megawatts.

A spokesperson for Acciona Energia said construction of the wind farm is slated to start in mid-2027, with construction then expected to take two years to complete, and the wind farm projected to have a life expectancy of at least 30 years.

“A wind farm project of this size has the potential to generate enough energy to power approximately 250,000 homes, and could create up to 270 jobs during peak construction, as well as up to 10 to 12 ongoing jobs during operations,” the spokesperson said.

Minister for Planning Sonya Kilkenny last year stipulated that an Environment Effects Statement will be required for the Tall Tree Wind Farm under the Environment Effects Act.

Set for 6pm to 7.30pm, the online information session comes after community members expressed interest in learning more about ecological survey work conducted for the proposed project.

“In response we’re pleased to host an online information session focused on ecology,” Acciona Energia’s spokesperson said.

“This session will provide an opportunity to hear directly from our experts, EHP Partners and ask questions about the ecological aspects of the project.

“We encourage all community members who have an interest in finding out more to register for the event.”
