Input on inclusivity wanted

August 1, 2019 BY

DISABILITY Advisory Committee is seeking new members.

The committee assists and advises Ballarat council and is looking to fill four vacancies with people who have experience or knowledge in the disability sector.

Phil Cutts, Rural Access Officer, said council seeks contribution from the committee on different projects to ensure accessibility for all abilities members of the community by tapping into its expertise and knowhow.

“The biggest feather in the cap of the committee in the last few years was the creation of the inclusive space place in Victoria Park,” Mr Cutts said. “They came to council with the idea, they were the main driver behind the concept and bought it to fruition.”

Mr Cutts points out the committee acts as a two-way street for communication with council staff and is made up of community members and service providers who have knowledge of disability in some way. It meets every two months.

Expressions of interest including an application letter and resume should be sent to [email protected] before 5pm on Friday, 2 August.
