DESIGNS for the Inverleigh Active Youth Space are now viewable to the public.

The $2.3 million facility upgrade at at Yerram Yaluk Bun Play Space is set to see the construction of a skate park, bike pump track, basketball courts, lighting, beautification works, and the installation of more seating, shelters, and shady areas.

Inverleigh Active Youth Space designs are aiming to get people to be active and develop community friendships in a fun, safe and positive environment.

Golden Plains Shire mayor Cr Gavin Gamble said seeing concept plans is always an exciting time.

“The Inverleigh community have done a fantastic job advocating for the Active Youth Space project and it’s wonderful to see their ideas come to life,” he said.

“I encourage all community members to view the plans online and discuss the proposed project with council’s recreation team at the engagement session.

“Inverleigh is one of the Shire’s fastest growing communities and council is pleased to be working alongside them to deliver a purpose-built space for young people in Inverleigh and surrounding towns.”

The Federal Government is contributing $700,000, the Shire $150,000, and a funding application has been made for $1.48 million from the State’s Growing Suburbs Fund to complete the project, which would also mean sealed car parking, more accessible concrete paths, seating, and landscaping could be included.

Inverleigh Progress Association led community consultation on this project, and the Shire has developed the plans which can be seen on the municipal website.

The designs are open for community feedback until Wednesday, 21 September.
