FEDERAL Member for Corangamite Libby Coker has made an election commitment to fund an undercover basketball court at Inverleigh Primary School if Labor is elected to government after 21 May.

As part of the party’s broader plan to boost the facilities within government schools after pandemic interruptions, Ms Coker said the project is something the students need at Inverleigh.

“I’m pleased to commit to provide funding if a Labor government is elected,” she said.

“Basketball continues to be a growing sport, increasingly popular among girls and boys.

“I know that basketball is a popular sport with the kids of Inverleigh, which has produced some great young basketballers over recent years.

“An undercover court will help to ensure the next generation of local players can train on a quality court that gives them the best chance to enjoy and excel at the sport.”

If delivered, the court works are expected to cost $170,000.
