UK comedy star Jimmy Carr will perform in Geelong as part of an Australian tour early next year.

The English funny man will perform at Costa Hall as he tours his Terribly Funny shows across the country from February to May.

Carr has more than two decades of experience as an award-winning comedian and television presenter, who has played more than 2500 shows and 10 sell-out tours during a decorated career.

The 49-year-old has become one of UK comedy’s most recognisable faces as host presenter of panel show 8 out of 10 Cats and its spinoff Countdown series, plus The Big Fat Quiz of the Year and The Big Fat Quiz of Everything.

The humour heavyweight has also made a foray into streaming services in recent years, with a self-titled stand-up routine among Netflix’s most popular last year.

Carr has become renowned for his deadpan delivery of controversial and sometimes dark humour that attracts both praise and criticism.

“Jimmy’s show contains jokes about all kinds of terrible things. Terrible things that might have affected you or people you know and love,” promoter Bohm Presents said.

“But they’re just jokes – they are not the terrible things.

“Having political correctness at a comedy show is like having health and safety at a rodeo.”

Carr will bring Terribly Funny to Geelong on March 5, 2023, and due to popular demand, a second show on the same evening has just been announced.
