A FREE, environmentally focused walk and talk will be held at the Clarkesdale Bird Sanctuary in Happy Valley later this month.

The Photosynthesis event, organised by the Golden Plains Shire Council and the Golden Plains Youth Activation Committee, will allow participants to learn about local and non-native flora and fauna.

It is open to residents of all ages and will also include expert talks, a guided walk, and a flora and fauna bingo game.

“This event is an initiative of the Golden Plains Youth Activation Committee and is a fantastic opportunity to learn about our local natural environment and sustainability practices while engaging with expert guest speakers on Golden Plains’ native flora and fauna,” mayor Cr Sarah Hayden said.

Guest speakers will include Emily Noble of BirdLife Australia and Bianca Fammartino of the Leigh Catchment Group.

The event will be held on Saturday 17 May from 10am until 12.30pm. To register, visit the Golden Plains Shire Council website.
