TO celebrate Oaks Day, staff at the Inverleigh Hotel are putting on an afternoon of fun for the community.

It’s the second year the venue has held the event to celebrate the major Spring Racing Carnival lady’s day and will include race sweeps, fashions on the field, wine packages, live music and prizes.

Hotel owner Georgina Malady said the idea stemmed from her dad’s love of horse racing.

“My father, who was the publican, passed away in April in 2022 and Spring Carnival Racing was special to him and our family,” she said.

“We wanted to create something in the community for women to have a bit of fun.”

The day seeks to provide an opportunity for women to get to know one another and have a fun day out.

“Best dressed on the day will win a $200 voucher to the Facial Maestro who will also be judging the event,” said Ms Malady.

“All the ladies on the day will get a goodie bag and that will include a 25 per cent off voucher to the Facial Maestro and some other nice goodies to take home.

“We have a DJ throughout the day coming and guest appearance of a Shetland pony to do photos with all the ladies.”

Ms Malady hopes to grow the event each year in memory of her father.

“We want this event to grow and to be able to have people from all over the region attend,” she said.

The Inverleigh Hotel Oaks Day event will run from 12pm on Thursday 9 November.

Tickets are available via bit.ly/3FzenFK and must be purchased before 12pm on Monday 6 November.
