Dear Editor,

IT was refreshing to read the article Priorities paused for gravel grade calendar (page 3, Golden Plains Times, 20 January) and I am glad that I am not the only resident that is having issues with roads.

I currently travel on several unsealed road around the Shire and many are completely closed off.

Whilst I fully appreciate the challenges that are presented to the council after recent flooding, the standard of grading needs to improve, and I completely agree with Cr Les Rowe’s comments that the Shire should now be going hammer and tong to catch up.

A drive around the Shire will show many roads with washouts and potholes that haven’t been dealt with other than spray paint to highlight them!

Time to forget about the bells and whistles and start getting our roads and drainage right.
