Long locks chopped for charity
CHERIE Birks has taken almost 10 years to grow her 70cm of golden tresses.
It will only take minutes to lose them at cut4cafs, a live haircut fundraiser for Cafs and Variety Children’s Charity.
Ms Birks, Ballarat business owner of The Aroma Co, said she wants to raise funds for local charity Cafs, Children and Family Services.
“Cafs support some of our communities most vulnerable members with a diverse range of programs and services,” she said.
“The money raised will help kick off a new art therapy program helping kids rebuild from trauma.”
Her hair will be bundled up and donated to Variety Children’s Charity who facilitate hair donations to manufacture wigs for kids with cancer and alopecia.
A charity auction at the event will further add money to the donation pile for Cafs.
cut4cafs is on Thursday, 13 June at Housey Housey, 12 Armstrong Street North, Ballarat from 7pm to 9pm.
Tickets are $38 and include a glass of bubbles on arrival, canapés, booking fee and gift bag.
