VALENTINES Day is set for early next week on Tuesday, 14 February.

You may, or may not, normally celebrate it, but this year, Bannockburn Library is marking the occasion, and making it fun and easy for people of all ages to get into the spirit.

Next Tuesday, librarians will be leading Library Lovers’ Day activities, encouraging people to head down and show their appreciation for their local centre which is overflowing with books, media, and resources.

“Library Lovers’ Day is the perfect excuse to pop into Bannockburn library and explore what’s on offer,” said Geelong Regional Libraries’ CEO Vanessa Schernickau.

“Everyone is welcome, whether you want to borrow a book or magazine, use the library space to work, or let the kids enjoy the outdoor areas with giant board games and mini golf.”

Librarians are taking part in a ‘blind date with a book’ initiative where borrowers can take home a mystery text.

Staff have selected books, hidden them in wrapping paper, and written clues to help borrowers choose the right book for them, based on what they enjoy.

At 10.30am on Library Lovers’ Day children are invited to dance, sing, and read at toddler time with their parents or carers, and no bookings are required.

Bannockburn Library is also extending further north for the day, leading an interactive create and connect adult storytelling workshop at Dereel Community Centre from 2pm to 3pm.

The Bannockburn Library is part of the Geelong Regional Libraries network and located at 25-27 High St, Bannockburn.

It is free to become a member. Find out more about the workshop at bit.ly/3JV6Vbz.
