Makeover for grants program
BARWON Water has opened up a new community grants program that’s aiming to create opportunities for local initiatives.
As part of the program there’s grants of up to $5000 available for initiatives in Barwon Water’s service area to community groups.
The water utility’s general manager of customers, community and strategy Laura Kendall said the grants program will be inclusive with broad eligibility criteria.
“Community groups across our region do incredible work in all kinds of ways and we’re keen to offer practical support through our new grants program,” she said.
“As we work to enable regional prosperity, we’ve given our whole support program a makeover so we can fund more local projects.”
Barwon Water staff are looking for initiatives which support saving water, improving the region or local environment, helping people be active and connected, or creating social inclusion.
“Applications open on 1 February, with an annual cycle that provides fair and consistent timelines for our not-for-profit, volunteer-based community organisations and schools,” said Ms Kendall.
“We hope to support a wide range of projects that will make a positive difference in our local communities.”
Applications close Sunday 31 March and can be made on the Have Your Say Barwon Water website.
