THE Victorian Goldfields Medieval Faire went over last weekend with people flocking to the Ballarat Polocrosse Grounds for the event.

Revived pastimes and artforms were on slow including jousting and other forms of medieval combat along with everything from coopering, pipe crafting, weaving and weapons makers.

Organisers said the Faire was a great success.

“We think it was fantastic and so did everybody else. We’re incredibly happy about the way the event went,” said Susan Mitchell, re-enactment liaison with VGMF.

“Everyone’s talking about next year already and how they’re going to bring their mates.”

The Faire is put on by volunteers and ran as a charity fundraiser with this year’s main benefactor being the SES.

Ms Mitchell said there was scope to help more groups as well.

“The Ballarat East Mens Shed did all the parking and all the gold coins went to them,” she said. “We would like to increase the number of community and social groups in our district to take on something to do with the Faire where they then get the money.”
