Montgomery Street Reserve revamped
SIX months from conversation to delivery is how long it took to revamp the Montgomery Street Recreation Reserve for the Wendouree community.
City of Ballarat councillor Daniel Moloney grew up and went to school a hop skip and jump from the reserve at Forest Street Primary School.
Cr Moloney was eagerly assisted by 8-year-old locals Cameron Schoenfelder and Cameron Ferguson to officially celebrate the revitalisation of a much-loved community asset.
The two Camerons took it in turns to read a line each of the speech they wrote, finishing up with, “Thanks everyone for listening and coming.”
Revitalisation works included perimeter fencing, new football goal posts, a new drinking fountain, an extra rubbish bin and new shelter – already under construction and park seating – to come.
The initiative is one of a number of community-led projects being delivered as part of the City of Ballarat’s Engaging Communities Program.
