More kinder places for Bannockburn
AN upgrade to Bannockburn Kindergarten is officially open.
The works included the creation of a modular building with two new kindergarten rooms and an outdoor play area.
About 90 new kindergarten places are now available to local families due to the expansion.
Member for Geelong Christine Couzens re-opened the centre on behalf of the State Minister for Children and Disability, Lizzie Blandthorn late last month.
“The Bannockburn Kindergarten upgrade ensures more local families can access a great kinder, close to home in this growing community,” said Ms Couzens.
“This upgrade will give local kids the high-quality early childhood education opportunities they need to get a great start in life.”
The $2.3 million project was funded by a Victorian Government Building Blocks Capacity Grant and was planned and implemented with assistance from Kardinia Early Learning staff and officers from the Golden Plains Shire.
As part of an ongoing partnership, the State Government has provided $5 million to back two projects that will create up to 140 kindergarten places within Golden Plains Shire.
