More students to thrive with Breakfast Club
THE State government’s School Breakfast Club Program is set to expand next year, with a further fifty-eight-million-dollars.
Five hundred more schools are set to jump on board this program which will soon offer lunches and school holiday supplies, alongside breakfast, to children in need.
Member for Buninyong, Michaela Settle has volunteered at Sebastopol Primary School’s Breakfast Club for the past few years, where the new lunch program is soon to start.
“Brekky Club” is the nicest hour of her week.
“There’s lots of research to show that children learn better with a full tummy. I’ve seen firsthand the difference it makes,” she said.
SPS Class Captain, Kristina loves her school breakfasts.
“It’s quiet. I feel happy and calm,” she said. “Without it, I wouldn’t really do much work, I’d just do scribbles.”
New schools joining include Warrenheip Primary, Mount Clear College, Mount Rowan, Woodmans Hill, and once open, the new primary school at Lucas.
