APPLICATIONS for the next round of Berrybank Wind Farm community grants are set to open next week.

The grants are designed to provide funding opportunities for community, business and tourism events in the Golden Plains Shire.

There are two categories that groups can apply for: economic development and tourism projects, and events which are over $10,000.

Groups are required to match the funding up to $10,000 either in cash or in contributions such as volunteer work.

Golden Plains Shire mayor Cr Brett Cunningham said the funding is a great way to support local groups who are imperative to the community.

“We encourage groups in our community who have an idea for a project or business and tourism event, to submit an application for consideration,” he said.

“Council also strongly encourages potential applicants to contact Council’s Community Development and Grants Officer to discuss their application before applying for a grant, to help ensure all requirements are met.”

Applications open Thursday, 1 June close on Friday, 30 June and more information can be found at Shire’s website.
