Morning motivation at Smythesdale
SMYTHESDALE’S GenkiFIT has started offering morning Pilates and circuit classes on Thursdays.
This is the first time the fitness business has offered early classes, and owner Jaymee Ellis said it responds to a need in the community.
“I definitely saw that therewas a gap in terms of that sort of offering in the area, there isn’t anything early morning specifically that people can take up,” she said.
“It kind of came from a mixture of two things; one that there isn’t really anything around and two, that there is a community want for it.”
Circuit classes are designed to build strength, endurance, and cardiovascular fitness, and are suitable for all ages and abilities.
“With the circuit classes it’s going to be a mixture of different muscle groups and different equipment,” said Ms Ellis.
“It will be perfect for any ability level. If you’re just starting out, modifications will be provided.”
Morning Pilates combines mat and barre variations to lengthen, strengthen and stretch muscles.
“With barre Pilates we utilise a chair or the barre and it’s focused on legs for the majority and balance,” said Ms Ellis.
“With your mat Pilates you have a focus on upper body and core, and again it will be suitable for all fitness levels.”
Classes cost $5 each and are held at the Woady Yaloak Recreation Facility Smythesdale. To book a class, visit the GenkiFIT website.
