Mountains of fun

ST BRENDAN’S Primary, Dunnstown will host their twelfth annual Mountain of Fun Run, all to generate funding for ongoing support of their school community.

On Sunday, 1 March, runners and walkers will tackle one of two courses, heading up and down Mount Warrenheip for 12.5kms or around Dunnstown for 6kms.

St Brendan’s parent and organising committee member, Kellie Leonard would like to see at least 300 entrants for 2020.

“It’s going to be another great event and it would be awesome if we got that amount again this year,” she said.

“Last year the weather was great and everyone was happy.”

Mrs Leonard is grateful for the support the event receives, working hard to promote the morning alongside her committee.

“People come back year after year because they have a great time, and we’ve got some great volunteers out here at Dunnstown that give up their time.”

The Mountain of Fun Run is not only financially beneficial to the school, but positive for the wellbeing of St Brendan’s students.

“We could probably do chocolate drives and that sort of thing, but we always wanted to make it about health, fitness and community,” Mrs Leonard said.

“That’s our focus; a healthy and active lifestyle. Come and give it a go, you’ve got nothing to lose.”

Bib collection is from 6.30am onwards with the 12.5km race starting at 8.15am and the 6km race starting at 8.30am.

At the start-finish line, based at the Dunnstown Recreation Reserve, a coffee cart will be available as well as egg and bacon rolls.

Roads will be closed from 8am. Registration for 6km competitors is $25 online and for 12.5km racers, $35 online.
