Movement on the menu
PILATES and cheese will be on the menu at the Meredith Hotel this May.
The event run by Team McLean Fitness Club is designed to support mental and physical health and wellbeing.
A mat Pilates class which requires no previous experience will be followed by a glass of bubbles and platter of local produce.
“It will be a basic flow of Pilates from beginner to advanced levels either in the garden or inside,” said McLean Fitness Club founder Kristen McLean.
“Then we’ll go outside to have some platters with cheese, biscuits, fresh fruit and dried fruit, and a social gathering afterwards.
“I will guide everyone through and it’s for all fitness levels and all abilities and I’ll offer different options as we go through.”
Ms McLean said Pilates is a great form of movement as it’s easy on the joints.
“Pilates is a low impact style of movement started by Joseph Pilates who thought about how to connect the mind and the body and bring the heart rate up with minimal movement,” she said.
“It’s a great way to move because its low impact and you still work up a sweat. It’s a lot of fun.”
With access to different forms of excise often limited in the country, Ms McLean said it was important that regional communities can experience these sorts of classes.
“I thought about bringing wellness into regional Victoria because there are not many social outlets besides going to the pub and drinking,” she said.
“I decided let’s give the Meredith people something different and why not showcase local foods.
“It’s about bringing everyone together.”
