YOUNG people across Golden Plains Shire will have a range of activities to choose from during the coming spring school holidays.
The Shire’s program of events begins on Monday 22 September and runs until Thursday 2 October.
The free activities have been designed to support the needs and interests of young people while also providing opportunities to learn new skills and connect with others in their age groups.
They are suitable for people aged from 12 to 25.
Week one’s schedule is: Monday 22 September, 1pm to 5pm, Sun Catcher Making at The Well, 19 Heales Street, Smythesdale; Tuesday 23 September, 1pm to 5pm, Golden Rainbows Film Festival at the Bannockburn Cultural Centre; Wednesday 24 September, 12pm to 2pm, BMX Workshop at Turtle Bend Recreation Reserve, Teesdale; and Thursday 25 September, 10am to 4pm, Accredited Training, Responsible Service of Alcohol at The Well, 19 Heales Street, Smythesdale.
Week two gets underway on Monday 29 September from 11am to 3pm with a Masterchef pizza session at the Golden Plains Youth Hub in Milton Street, Bannockburn.
It continues with: Tuesday 30 September, 1pm to 4pm, Woodworking Activity at the Bannockburn Men’s Shed, 2B Pope Street, Bannockburn; Wednesday 1 October, 9am to 4pm, Werribee Open Range Zoo (Bannockburn pick-up only); and Thursday 2 October, 10.30am to 4.30pm, Accredited Training, Safe Food Handling at the Golden Plains Youth Hub, Milton Street, Bannockburn.
Golden Plains Shire mayor Cr Owen Sharkey said the holiday activity program gave young people and opportunity to socialise with each other while also learning new skills.
“There’s a great range of activities available and the program itself is always very popular,” Cr Sharkey said.
Cr Sharkey encouraged anyone interested in participating to act quickly because tickets, which became available on 1 September, are limited.
