ENTERPRISING people in the top of the Shire are invited to join Golden Plains’ Northern Business Network, which will gather for the first time next week.

The group has been established to nurture relationships between local businesses in the area, and create a space to share ideas, seek advice, solve problems, and collaborate.

This initial Network meeting is set for Wednesday, 3 August from 5.30pm to 7.30pm at Linton’s The Railway Hotel, where attendees can start to brainstorm a pathway for the group, decide on its title, and upcoming events.

John Leach and Jude Maclean are The Railway Hotel’s new owners and said hosting the event is a great opportunity for them to mix and mingle with local businesses.

“It’s a chance for us to showcase what we have at the Linton Hotel, and an opportunity to meet everyone in Linton,” Mr Leach said.

“I come from a mining background, and Jude from a compliance industry, so hospitality is a new venture for us, but we’re pleased to be part of the community, and we hope to put lots back into it.

“Linton is a beautiful town, and we love the access to the rail trail and the friendly people. It’s a great little community.”

Golden Plains Shire mayor Cr Gavin Gamble said the aim of the Network is to unite businesspeople after a difficult two-and-a-half years.

“Council is pleased to get behind the formation of the Northern Business Network for local businesses in the northern region of Golden Plains,” he said.

“I encourage business owners in the north to attend the first meeting, and to get involved in the Northern Business Network to not only grow their own business, but to support other businesses in the region.”
