A 5.5-kilometre stretch of byway, from the intersection of Rokewood-Shelford Road north towards Linton, has been widened and resealed.

The works cost $1.4 million with coming from the $933,000 State government’s Fixing Country Roads fund and a further $466,666 via the Federal Government’s Roads to Recovery Program.

“Residents of the north-west of Golden Plains Shire who regularly travel Linton-Mannibadar Road will certainly experience the difference following the completion of this key road project,” said Golden Plains Shire mayor Cr Owen Sharkey.

“With 5.5km of wider sealed road, it provides a safer, better travel route for all vehicles including trucks and farm vehicles serving the surrounding rural residences.

“The upgrade was the top priority on the Mannibadar Community Plan 2017-2020 and council is pleased to have completed this project for the benefit of our local communities.”

Cr Sharkey said with the capital works fully paid for by external programs, that meant the municipality could put its own funds towards other critical works.

“Delivering this important $1.4 million project with Federal and State government grants has allowed Council to redirect its road budget to additional works across the Shire.”
