Entries are now open for the biggest event of the year for one of the Shire’s southern golf clubs.

Participants are now able to sign up to play in the Inverleigh Golf Club’s Annual Open Tournament and Ladies’ Rose Bowl set to run over three days in August.

The club’s ladies captain and tournament secretary Deb Nicholls said organisers are encouraging everyone with a Golf Australia membership to have a swing.

“We’re taking people right up until the day. Anyone who’s part of a club can come along and play,” she said.

“It’s very hard for small country clubs to get big fields so we want as many as we can.”

The competition will begin with the Women’s events on Friday 4 August followed by the men’s tournament the next day before culminating with mixed games on Sunday 6 August.

Each day ‘s pay is 18 holes a round, and the Rose Bowl will feature teams of three players per club.

With raffle and competition prizes up for grabs, proceeds from the event will go towards repairing flood damage to part of the course.

“It’s our major competition and fundraising event,” Ms Nicholls said.

“We get a lot of locals but then we get people as far as Trentham and places like that. It’s a good social atmosphere.”

Entry fees will vary from $25 to $40 depending on the competition. To register, visit the Inverleigh Golf Club website.
