Opera ready to hit the regions

LIVE music production company Pure Harmony Music and Events is heading to regional Victoria this festive season with an epic opera.

Their seven-piece chamber orchestra and eight-piece vocal ensemble will stop in Ballarat on 17 December to take on George Frideric Handel’s Messiah, led by conductor and harpsichordist Jane Matheson.

The show’s artistic director Adrian Tamburini said he was eager to showcase the Baroque composer’s world-famous 1741 oratorio to audiences.

“This is the first live classical music concert that most of these communities will attend since the beginning of the pandemic,” he said.

“I am so proud and privileged to be able to share this glorious music with these regional communities in some of the most beautiful and historic buildings throughout Victoria.”

Booked for St Patrick’s Cathedral in Ballarat, a string of performances are also scheduled for another five regional locations across the state.

“I have been lucky to have performed in all of these towns before and I am so glad that I will be able to bring 16 of Victoria’s finest musicians to share this wonderful experience,” Mr Tamburini said.

An opera singer and show soloist himself, Mr Tamburini said the performances brought together top musicians for a family friendly live music experience.

“Many of our musicians have had international careers performing with some of the greatest orchestras and opera companies in the world,” he said.

“The audience will be treated to a world-class performance.”
