Over 20 garage sales, one road
GOT the urge to find and pick a unique antique, some horse-riding kit or almost anything else?
Well head down the Ballarat-Colac Road on Saturday between Napoleons and Rokewood for over 20 garage sales, two car boot sales, market stalls and activities, all put on by the community.
Organiser Julie Donaghy said the event, which has run at different times for the last few years, was about giving as many people as possible a reason to visit the region.
“A lot of people want to have a garage sale, but they feel that people from Ballarat and other areas wouldn’t want come out here,” she said.
“So, if there was two, three, four, even 20, garage sales on the one day, that would entice people to come out and have a look.”
With homes, sheds, or at least garages open at Napoleons, Enfield, Dereel, Corindhap and Rokewood, along with car boot sales at Dereel Men’s Shed, and a market with 15 stalls plus more car boots at the Rokewood RSL, there’s treasure waiting to be discovered.
“I asked the Dereel Men’s Shed if they’d hold a car boot sale, as there were a few people who didn’t want to have a garage sale at their home,” Ms Donaghy said. “They said ‘all right, we’ll put on a sausage sizzle for the day and invite some people to sell some items’.
“We’re ran the RSL market at various times on public holidays and it always creates a lot of interest.I asked the stall holders and they all decided they would come for the day.”
While the market, car boot sales and sausage sizzle are set for Saturday, 30 November, the garage sales will run across the Saturday and Sunday.
