Parking Plan starts in Zone 2
CITY of Ballarat is launching the first stage of its Smarter Parking Plan.
The area within Ripon, Eyre, Princes, and Mill and Seymour streets comprises Zone 2 and will have new parking configurations rolled out over the next few months.
There will be a combination of free, time restricted and all-day car parking.
Residents in the 200 block of Lyons Street North, will be the first to receive letters outlining their street’s parking configuration as part of stage one.
They will have a week to register any concerns and to meet with council’s parking staff if required to address any issues.
New parking signs will start to be erected in the street within four weeks of delivering the notification letters.
Each household will receive a free Residential Parking Permit which will allow them to park free in any parking space near their house, excluding bus zones, loading bays and no stopping zones.
Some may qualify for a second free permit while a third permit may be issued subject to strict criteria for an annual fee of $100.
All current permits will be cancelled and a three-month grace period from July 1 provided for new permits to be issued.
