Pfizer jabs for under 50s expanded

VICTORIAN’S aged under fifty in priority groups can now access the Pfizer vaccine.

The priority groups include emergency service workers, ADF personnel, meat and seafood processing workers, adults with health conditions, disability service workers, and carers for people who are over 70, and those with underlying medical conditions.

The push for more vaccination comes as part of a nationwide blitz that has already seen more healthcare and aged care workers, hotel quarantine and border workers already eligible for the Pfizer vaccine.

State Minister for Health Martin Foley said people must call to make a booking to receive the vaccine.

“We’ve made it as simple as possible to access the Commonwealth’s vaccination program in Victoria,” he said. “If you’re an eligible worker under 50, place a call and make a booking to receive the Pfizer vaccine.”

More open-access vaccination centres have opened across the state, which continue to offer the Astra-Zeneca vaccine to all people aged over 50 via bookings or walk-in appointments.

Bookings at any of the state’s mass-vaccination sites can be made via coronavirus.vic.gov.au/vaccine or by calling 1800 675 398.

As of Monday, more than 300,000 vaccine doses delivered in Victoria.
