THE Golden Plains annual photo comp known as Spring in the Shire is set to come to a conclusion next week.

Winners in the major and young adult $300 prizes, along with the $200 junior prize, will be announced at next Thursday’s Golden Plains Twilight Market at Bannockburn before going on show until the end of January.

Under the theme of ‘What we share’, 70 entries were received for the competition, with 30 shortlisted, and mayor Cr Gavin Gamble praised the submissions.

“We received such a great response to this year’s Spring in the Shire photography competition, with more than 70 entries from residents of all ages,” he said.

“The competition’s theme of ‘What we share’ was an opportunity to showcase the many positive aspects of life that we all share in Golden Plains – a creative theme that was fitting in this past COVID year and inspired some impressive photographic works.”

After the winners are announced at the Twilight Market between 5.45pm and 6.15pm on Thursday, 16 December, the photos will go on show at the Golden Plains Cultural Centre at Bannockburn until 31 January.

“We hope that many residents will take the opportunity over the summer to visit the exhibitions and view the 30 shortlisted images,” Cr Gamble said.

The prize money for the photography competition was provided by Stockdale & Leggo Bannockburn and Healthwise Pharmacy Bannockburn, along with the Shire.
