Plans revealed for bike park
COMMUNITY members are being asked to have their say on plans for a proposed bike park in Bannockburn.
A concept has been designed by staff at Golden Plains Shire following consultation with the community.
Features of the plan include three different tracks to accommodate different riders and a jump line with a wooden deck start point.
Community input identified that having tracks for different skill levels was important as well as shaded rest areas, seating, car parking, connecting paths, a bike repair station and a drinking fountain.
Golden Plains Shire mayor Cr Brett Cunningham said he was eager to see the input come together in the proposed plan.
“Community feedback has been integral in the development of the concept design of the Bannockburn Bike Park, and I thank the community members that took the time to tell us what they wanted to see included as part of the design throughout the consultation process last year,” he said.
“Council welcomes residents’ input on the concept design and we look forward to finalising the design with the support of the community.
“The Bannockburn Skate Park is an impressive recreation facility for young people in our Shire and the construction of the proposed bike park will complete the precinct.
“With a community supported design, council can begin to advocate at a State and Federal government level for funding to deliver the proposed bike park.”
The proposed plan is on display until 5pm, Wednesday, 12 April and residents are invited to have their say via goldenplains.vic.gov.au.
